I suppose that the way that I see it every gun has it's niche. And as such that creates a series of trade offs when you use it. AR's typically lose to SMGs in CQC. SMGs tend to lose to ARs in long range combat. If you have an AR that's built more like an SMG then maybe it gains some use in CQC but it loses some ability in long range. I think that happens all too often is that people get hung up on the "class" of a weapon and lose sight of how it fits in the grander scheme of things. So this takes me back to the thought that if you have no issue killing people that are using weapon X then what is the point of complaining about it? Take the MTAR for example. It was an AR in BO2 and now it's an SMG. The truth of the matter is that it's not great at either role but it shines mainly at mid range. Past that it really depends on who is using it as to whether or not it works well. Some folks would claim it OP just because it's in the SMG category even though every other SMG will beat it close range and every AR will beat it long range.
