Re: Some data I've collected about ping and internet speed -vs- scores

I used their computers also hardwired to the same router the Xbox was plugged into to do the ping test.

Ping and Speed test are not useless, a single run would be useless, a series of runs taken over 25-30 games can give you a good idea of the average ping and speeds of each connection for a comparison.

As I said I can't (and know of no way to do it) do a test direct to each games individual host, and because you'd have multiple host your ping times and speeds may vary wildly. That is not what my experiment was about. My experiment was about establishing a baseline ping and speeds from the 6 different locations available to me all to the same server which gives a comparison of their internets in comparison to each other, not to the game itself. For the game itself since you can not test to each host as you go along and since you'd have to have the same host and same group of players for each test from each test location for that to mean anything, then the only way to compensate is to play lots of games at each location which simply gives you a baseline K/d ratio for each location.

Anyone who knows anything about the scientific method for data-based comparisons in a random enviorment will understand the reasons. If you can not test the same host each time, then you have to repeat the experiment as many times as possible using what you CAN test and then average them out just to give you a rough comparison.

That's all it is, it's not claiming anything as being the gospel of the game dynamics, it simply gives a rough comparison of ping/speed -vs- K/d ratio measured over a period of enough games to establish the average for each type of connection.
