The Ripper is indeed part of Devastation map pack. The only thing that the Season Pass grants you, in terms of the Ripper, is that you get it early compared to the map pack release.

Sometimes it can take a day or two for items to come through. I would suggest taking the plug out of the wall for a few minutes, then try again.

 

Also - are you trying to access the Ripper via Online multiplayer or through the local playlist ?

He has'nt bought the onslaught DLC map pack, do we need to purchase this as well.

 

No - not for the Ripper to work. However, If your son is playing online he may have difficulties in finding matches. This is because few gamers would have the devastation map pack and not Onslaught. At the moment it is not a drama as the Devastation map pack is not in general rotation --> it is in a standalone playlist. However, in a few weeks Devastation will be integrated into general roation, and your son will only be able to play with those who have Devastation, and not Onslaught. I hope that make sense to you.
